ATTENTION NYACP Members Involved in Medical Research … An Invitation to Get Involved A small group of NYACP physician members involved in medical research recently met via conference call and expressed interest in a Chapter focus on research activities. We invite you to get involved.  If you are currently conducting, considering or actively exploring formal research (NOT ABSTRACT PRESENTATIONS, please), let us hear from you with detail on the type of research you are doing and your areas of interest. Adding a Research Corner to NYACP’s web site was suggested to: highlight existing research work being conducted by members and the Chapter post grant opportunities share information and ideas (research exchange network) offer a member exchange of research registries and clearing houses provide a mentorship program for young investigators and junior faculty and encourage student and resident interest in research The following quote from an upstate member researcher suggests how successful a collaborative grant initiative can be: “The New York Chapter of the American College of Physicians was instrumental in the seminal research we conducted examining an effective approach to physician burnout. From the initial planning phase, to crafting a powerful and persuasive grant application, to the successful execution of the project, they were behind us 100%.  Not only were they supportive of our concept, but they took a central leadership role in many aspects of the project, clearly advocating to the physician community and to national leadership on the importance of this work. Without NY ACP, our project would have been long on vision but short on execution, and no doubt would have failed to meet its objectives.
